Contact: Timmy McCormack, Sports Information Director

Junior goal-scorer Nick Weatherby thought he had given the Lions a tie ball game with less than 10 seconds to play but his goal was called back due to an offside infraction as Piedmont fell 1-0 on the road to the Scots of Covenant College.
Box Score

Lookout Mountain, GA --
The Piedmont College men's soccer team fell against new Great South Athletic Conference member school Covenant College earlier this afternoon by a tight 1-0 score. The match was close throughout the 90 minutes including an exciting finish that saw a possible tie go up in smoke for the visiting Lions.

Piedmont fought hard with the host Scots of Covenant until the home team managed to a take a 1-0 lead over the road team with a goal in the 68th minute of play.

With time waning and hopes fading away for PC on the road, the Lions experienced a moment of jubilation when they thought Nick Weatherby had found the back of the net with less than ten seconds to play. However, the score that would have tied up the match at one was called back due to an offside infraction on the Lions as Piedmont dropped the 1-0 decision to the Scots.

With the loss, PC falls to 9-7 on the season.  Piedmont will look to wrap up regular season play with a win as the team hosts a GSAC match with LaGrange College on Tuesday, November 2nd with the time yet to be determined.  The match is a make-up for the contest that was postponed on Tuesday, October 26.
