Demorest, GA --
The Piedmont College volleyball team sent their senior class out with a win at home on Senior Night taking a 3-0 victory over Oglethorpe University.  Tonight's victory was the squad's second of the season over Oglethorpe as the Lady Lions also took a straight sets decision from their in-state rival back on September 21 of this year.

After a short ceremony was held to honor the team's senior class, Piedmont wasted no time out of the gate taking the opening set by a 25-15 score.  Although, Oglethorpe refused to make it easy for the home team, PC earned a tight 25-19 victory in set number two before sweeping the Stormy Petrels with another 25-15 win in set number three for the 3-0 match winner.

Seniors Heather Stafford and Kalin DeMarrais combined for 16 kills and 14 digs on their night of recognition.  Also earning attention at the net was Hallye Jerkins and Erin Krause who each put down six kills a piece while a pair of Rachels in Rachel Davis and Rachel Powell also added four each.

Jerkins led all Lady Lions with four total blocks including a crushing solo block in the second set with the score knotted at 16. Freshman Danielle Maffett added a pair of kills to the suffocating Piedmont offensive attack.

Freshman Katheryn Knarr continued to guide the PC offense to success dishing out 20 helpers on the evening while also grabbing a pair of digs.  Leading the way defensively for Piedmont once again was sophomore libero Paige Eslinger who picked up 21 attacks off the floor.

The win moves Piedmont to 16-12 overall and one step closer to their sixth consecutive 20-win season.  With the home action completed for the 2010 season, the Lady Lions will now hit the road to compete in the Centre College Halloween Bash this Saturday, October 30 with games scheduled against Sewanee-University of the South at 1:00 and the host Centre at 11:00.
