Demorest, GA -- Piedmont College men's basketball fans are encouraged to wear camoflague to the team's game Thursday night at home versus Johnson Bible College. The evening is being promoted as Military Appreciation Night and is sponsored by Patriots of Piedmont.
The Lions (11-6) will tip off against the Preachers at 7:00 PM in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center and will take part in the evening's festivities by wearing camo shooting shirts in pregame warmups and halftime.
Prior to the game Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7720 of Cornelia, GA will be presenting the colors with the National Anthem to be sung by Megan Holmes.
Patriots of Piedmont will be collecting non-perishable food items as well as accepting donations that will be put into a mailable care-package and sent to active military members that have a Piedmont College connection. Fans will also be able to sign a thank-you banner that will be mailed to the troops as well.
Members of the PC student section dressed in camo will receive free pizza near the conclusion of the game.
In addition to a student entertainment competition (Habersham Hills Cinemas Shootout Challenge) Patriots of Piedmont will honor former and current military members with a halftime presentation.
The promotion is part of the team's
2009-2010 home game promotions that are encouraged to make Cave Arena a fun and exciting NCAA college basketball experience for the Piedmont College and Habersham county communities.
