Jackson, MS -- In the final day of the Millsaps College Invitational the Piedmont College volleyball team fell in the opener to Loyola University 3-1 but rebounded to end the tournament on a high note defeating Belhaven College in straight sets. Loyola went on to win the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record while the Lady Lions finished an even 2-2.

Piedmont, now 3-2 overall, will return for the home opener on Wednesday, September 9th as they play host to local rival Brenau University at Cave Arena with first-serve slated for 7:00.

In the opener the Lady Lions took the first set 25-21 but dropped the final three 17-25, 24-26 and 19-25. Nikki Cole and Heather Stafford led the way with six kills respectively while setter Tyler Baldonado posted 25 assists.

In the tournament finale Belhaven was no match for the well-balanced offensive attack that saw five players record at least three kills. Libero Jennifer Granlund paced the defensive with 15 digs and is currently averaging five digs per set.
