Lions Fall To Regionally-Ranked Emory University 4-1

Newcomer Sidney Smith posted the Lions' only goal in the 4-1 loss this evening to Emory University at Walker Field.

Demorest, GA -- For only the second time this season the Piedmont College men's soccer team fell at Walker Field, this evening to visiting in-state rival Emory University by the score of 4-1. The regionally-ranked Eagles used three second half goals to pull away from the home-standing Lions en route to the win.

The loss slides PC to 3-2-1 overall. The men will play host to Christopher Newport University, currently ranked #4 in the latest NCAA Division-III national poll, on Sunday, September 27th at Walker Field with kick-off scheduled for 2:00.

The Lions defense was stout in the first half but EU finally broke through with a goal at the 41st minute. In the second frame the Eagles tacked on two more goals in the first 20 minutes to build a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Newcomer Sidney Smith found the back of the net at the 65th minute for the Lions only goal. The visitors would add the final goal of the match 10 minutes later to cap the scoring and seal the three-goal win.
