Men's Soccer Plays To 1-1 Overtime Draw At Maryville

In the Lions' 1-1 overtime draw at Maryville College this evening in Maryville, TN senior Bryan Prevatte notched his first goal of the season to knot the score in the second half.

Maryville, TN -- In the first Great South Athletic Conference match of the season the Piedmont College men's soccer team traveled to defending champion Maryville College this evening and played the Scots to a 1-1 overtime draw. After a scoreless first frame the home team struck first with a goal at the 54th minute but saw the Lions answer just six minutes later.

Trailing 1-0 senior Bryan Prevatte headed a Jorge Pradilla corner kick into the back of the net for his first goal of the season and the match's equalizer. The teams would remain tied through regulation and the two 10-minute golden goal overtime frames.

The Lions were outshot 14-10 and saw the home team hold the corner kick advantage 16-4. Between the posts Brian Gaid converted a season high 13 saves. The hard fought match saw 19 fould and six yellow cards issued.

PC, now 3-1-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the Great South, will return to the pitch again on Wednesday, September 23rd as they play host to in-state rival Emory University at Walker Field kicking off at 7:00.
