Lady Lions Claim Straight Set Victory Over Covenant

In the Lady Lions' 3-0 victory over Covenant College this evening in Cave Arena setter Tyler Baldonado posted a game-high 24 assists.

Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College volleyball team played host to visiting non-conference Covenant College this evening at Cave Arena and took the victory in straight sets. The win marks the fifth consecutive for the Lady Lions and gives the women their first victory at home.

PC, now 8-3 overall, will return to the court again on Saturday, September 19th as they travel to the Centre College Classic in Danville, KY. The Lady Lions will square off with Hanover College and Spalding University at 11:00 and 3:00 respectively.

In the first set the women never trailed and took 25-19 decision. In the second frame with the score close junior Kalin DeMarrais served five consecutive points to distance the Lady Lions for the 25-19 point. In the third and final frame senior Nikki Cole served six consecutive winners including two aces for the 25-18 set.

Tyler Baldonado posted 24 assists while DeMarrais and Cole combined for 27 digs. Junior Heather Stafford posted a pair of solo blocks while Baldonado and Shelby Fooshee converted a pair of service aces apiece.
