Volleyball Takes Third Consecutive Crown At Greensboro Invitational

The Lady Lions claimed their third consecutive championship at the Greensboro College Invitational going a perfect 4-0.

By taking the final two matches of the Greensboro College Invitational this afternoon the Piedmont College volleyball team was crowned champions for the third consecutive season. The Lady Lions defeated Guilford College and Salem College in straight sets en route to the tournament title.

Senior setter Tyler Baldonado was named the Tournaments Most Valuable Player while junior libero Jennifer Granlund was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

In the opener against GC the Lady Lions overpowered the Quakers winning 25-12, 25-17 and 25-21. Kalin DeMarrais posted nine kills to lead while Granlund earned 17 digs.

In the tournament finale the women defeated Great South Athletic Conference member Salem College for the first conference victory of the season. After taking the first set 25-17, the Lady Lions held their opponents to nine and eight points respectively in the final frames.

The wins improve the Lady Lions to 7-3 overall. PC will return to the court on Tuesday, September 15th as they play host to non-conference foe Covenant College at Cave Arena beginning at 6:30.
