Toccoa, GA -- In the season-opening match the Piedmont College volleyball team traveled to local rival Toccoa Falls College this evening and walked away with the 3-1 victory. The win marked the first for head coach
Sid Feldman at the helm of the green and white and the sixth consecutive triumph over the Eagles.
After taking the first set 25-22 the Lady Lions wavered in the second as the home team rallied to claim the second 25-22. PC regained control in the third 25-10 and fended off the hard-charging Eagles in the fourth and final set 25-22.
Kalin DeMarrais led the offensive attack with 12 kills while
Katie Tucker chipped in with nine kills, eight of which came in the final three sets.
Nikki Cole added eight kills while setter
Tyler Baldonado posted 35 assists.
The Lady Lions committed 11 service errors and eight blocking errors but were able to hold off the home team en route to the first victory of the young season. The Lady Lions will travel to the Millsaps College Invitational in Jackson, MS on Friday, September 4th as they square off with the home-standing Majors at 4:00.
