Freshman Alex Beebe picked up his second victory of the season against in-state rival Oglethorpe University.
Atlanta, GA -- The Piedmont College baseball team traveled to in-state rival Oglethorpe Univesity this evening in Atlanta, GA and defeated the Stormy Petrels 7-5. The win completes the season sweep against OU and moves the Lions to 17-16 overall.

Freshman Alex Beebe went seven strong innings for his second victory of the year. Sophomore Matt Collins went three innings allowing only one run for his first collegiate save. It was also a career night for freshman Andy Waldrop and Ethan Miers who collected the first college hits.

After OU posted a single run in the first the Lions answered with two in the second as Jared Moon doubled home Waldrop and came around to score on a Zac Stein single. The Lions would never trail for the remainder of the game and extended the lead to 7-4 entering the ninth inning.

The Stormy Petrels posted a single run but could get no closer and dropped the decision. Moon led the offense going 4-5 with a pair of doubles and stolen bases respectively while Waldrop posted four hits as well.

The Lions will return to Great South Athletic Conference action on Friday, April 17th as they host LaGrange College at Loudermilk Field beginning at 7:00.
