Netters Sweep Matches To Finish Sewanee Invitational

On the second and final day of the Sewanee-University of the South Invitational the Piedmont College volleyball team capped off a perfect tournament with a pair of victories. In the first match the Lady Lions handled host Sewanee 3-0 and took the finale 3-2 over Emory & Henry College.

The win extends the current streak to four matches and makes PC 23-8 overall. The women will return to action again at the Great South Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals next Friday, November 6th in Maryville, TN.

In the opener the Lady Lions made short work of the home standing Tigers 25-6, 25-4 and 25-14. Tyler Baldonado led the well-balanced offense with 14 assists while Jennifer Granlund led the back line with 10 digs.

In the final match PC took the first set 25-12 but dropped the second 25-14. After taking the third frame 26-24 EHC forced a fifth set with a 25-18 point in the fourth. The Lady Lions trailed 7-2 in the final frame but rallied to take the decisive point 15-10.

Nikki Cole led the way with 18 kills while Michelle Tesina chipped in with eight. Baldonado posted a match high 40 assists while Granlund and Cole added 15 and 14 digs respectively.
