Volleyball Takes First Match In Sewanee-University of the South Invitational

In the volleyball team's third victory of the season over Huntingdon College, libero Jennifer Granlund earned a team-best 17 digs.

In the first match of the Sewanee-University of the South Invitational this afternoon the Piedmont College volleyball team defeated Great South Athletic Conference member Huntingdon College by the score of 3-1. After splitting the first two sets the Lady Lions rallied to take the final two frames and seal the victory.

PC, now 21-8 overall, will return to action again tomorrow, October 31st as they take on tournament host Sewanee and Emory & Henry College in the final day of the invitational. The matches will serve as the final regular season action for the Lady Lions who will then travel to the GSAC Tournament.

The Lady Lions took the first set 25-8 but stumbled in the second dropping the second 27-25. After trailing 24-19 the squad rallied with eight consecutive points to take the third frame 26-24 and sealed the win in the fourth and final set 25-19.

The victory is the third of the season over Huntingdon who has only notched one set victory against the Lady Lions. Nikki Cole led the offense with 10 kills while Kalin DeMarrais chipped in with eight. Setter Tyler Baldonado added 30 assists while Jennifer Granlund led with 17 digs.
