Maryville Uses A Pair Of Second Half Goals To Edge Lions

Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College men's soccer team fell to visiting Great South Athletic Conference member Maryville College this evening at Walker Field by the score of 2-1. After leading for 51 minutes the Lions saw their lead evaporate in the second frame and dropped the narrow decision.

PC, now 5-7-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the GSAC, will return to action again on Wednesday, October 21st as they host conference foe LaGrange College beginning at 7:30.

The home standing Lions struck at the fourth minute as Nick Weatherby took a Tom Von Berg pass and beat the keeper for the first goal of the contest. The 1-0 lead would remain for the duration of the first half.

The Scots would find the equalizer at the 55th minute. After a missed penalty-kick the visitors found the game-winner at the 88th minute to seal the win. For the match MC held the advantage in shots on goal 9-4.

The loss marks the sixth one-goal decision of the season for the Lions. The squad is also now 4-2 in matches in which they score first.
