Demorest, GA -- For the second consecutive day the Piedmont College volleyball team earned a Great South Athletic Conference victory, this afternoon at the hands of visiting LaGrange College at Cave Arena by the easy score of 3-0. The win gives the Lady Lions sole possession of second place in the conference standings and improves the squad to 4-2 at home.
The netters now stand at 16-7 overall and 5-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The women will return to the hardwood again on Thursday, October 22nd as they host Agnes Scott College in a GSAC match starting at 6:30.
In the first game the Lady Lions trailed 20-16 but rattled off eight consecutive points off of Erin Krause's service and won the point 25-23. The women kept the momentum in the second set opening with five consecutive points off of Tyler Baldonado's serving attack. The women took the second and third points by the scores of 25-18 and 25-15.
Heather Stafford led the team with a match best 10 kills. Nine different Lady Lions recorded kills as setter Baldonado spread the offense with 33 assists. PC connected on 32% of its attacks compared to an 18% mark from the Panthers.
Jennifer Granlund continued her strong libero play with a match high 16 digs while Baldonado chipped in with nine.
Michelle Tesina was also strong at the net with four block assists, a contest best.
