Maryville, TN --
The Piedmont College volleyball team traveled to Great South Athletic Conference member Maryville College this evening and fell to the home standing Scots by the score of 3-0. The loss marks the first GSAC blemish for the Lady Lions who snapped a three-match winning streak.

The defeat stands as the second consecutive against the defending Great South Athletic Conference champions who remain perfect in conference action. The Scots controlled the action taking the match 25-19, 25-19 and 25-15.

Newcomer Michelle Tesina led the Lady Lions with seven kills and only one error. Haylee Jerkins notched four kills while setter Tyler Baldonado posted 18 assists. Libero Jennifer Granlund paced the defense with 11 digs, the 15th time she has eclipsed double figures on the season.

The women could only muster one block and gave away six crucial service errors.

Piedmont now stands at 14-7 overall and 3-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The squad will look to rebound on Friday, October 16th as they welcome Huntingdon College to Cave Arena for a conference match scheduled for 6:00.
