Demorest, GA -- After falling behind 3-0 the Piedmont College men's soccer team rallied with a pair of second half goals but fell just short in the squad's 3-2 loss this evening to in-state rival Oglethorpe University at Walker Field. The Lions pulled within one goal with 10 minutes remaining but saw multiple chances slip just pass.

The Stormy Petrels took control early and carried a decisive 3-0 advantage into halftime. The home team found its first goal at the 50th minute as Nick Weatherby hit a 40-yard free-kick past the keeper.

With just 10 minutes remaining the Lions got within one as Sidney Smith took an Abu Bangura pass and saw his shot richochet off the crossbar and into the net. The squad earned many shots on goal down the stretch, but could not find the equalizer and dropped the narrow decision.

The loss drops PC to 5-6-1 overall. The men will play host to the first of three consecutive Great South Athletic Conference matches on Monday, October 19th as they welcome Maryville College to Walker Field under the lights at 7:00.
