The Piedmont College baseball team extended its winning streak to four games as they defeated non-conference host Virginia Wesleyan College this afternoon in Virginia Beach, VA by the score of 5-3. The Lions manufactured five runs on 11 hits and played flawless defense to seal the three-game road trip sweep.
PC never trailed in the game and got on the board first with a single run in the top of the second. The Marlins answered in the second inning with a solo homerun but the Lions scored two runs in the third and then notched single insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Virginia Wesleyan rallied in the eighth to get within two runs but left the bases loaded with two outs.
Offensively Justin Vorherr and Andy House continued their hot hitting going a combined 5-9 with three runs scored. Andy Graf went seven plus innings allowing only three runs on seven hits to get the victory on the mound. Tom Dimitroff closed out the game for his second save of the season.
The victory moves Piedmont to 14-19 overall. The Lions will return to the field again on Wednesday, April 11th as they travel to Sewanee-University of the South in Sewanee, TN with game time slated for 2:00 CST.
