The Piedmont College baseball team snapped its two-game losing streak tonight as the Lions used a season-high 20 hits to roll past visiting local rival Oglethorpe University by the score of 16-6 at PC's Loudermilk Field. PC scored in all but two innings and trailed only in the top of the first inning before cruising to the 10-run victory.
After OU led off the game with a solo homerun the Lions answered in the home-half scoring five runs. Piedmont tacked on a pair of runs in the second and then seven runs combined in the third and fourth inning. After the Stormy Petrels scored three runs in the sixth the Lions answered with single runs in both the sixth and seventh en route to the victory.
Cole Spedale, Andy House and Tyson Baxter all collected four hits apiece. Travis Hunt and Evan Nissley chipped in with 2-4 performances with a pair of RBI's each. On the mound PC used six pitchers who only allowed four earned runs.
The victory moves Piedmont to 11-19 overall. The Lions will travel to Newport News, VA to take on Christopher Newport University on Thursday, April 5th with game time slated for 2:00.
