Baseball Team Falls To LaGrange In Season Finale

The Piedmont College baseball team dropped their season finale 6-3 this afternoon at Loudermilk Field at the hands of visiting Great South Athletic Conference foe LaGrange College. Prior to the start of the game Stan Brosko, Luke Dombrowsky, Trey McCay and Blake Thomas were recognized as the senior class for the 2007 Lions.

LaGrange got on the board first with a single run in the top of the second. The Panthers added on a pair of runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take a 5-0 lead. PC rallied in the seventh with a pair of runs and a single run in the bottom of the ninth but could not get the go-ahead run on base and dropped the three-run decision.

Travis Hunt led the offense going 3-5 while Dombrowsky chipped in going 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Seniors McCay and Brosko went 1-3 respectively while Thomas threw two innings of relief allowing only one earned run with a strikeout.

The loss moves Piedmont to a season record of 19-21 overall and 5-4 in the Great South. The Lions finish in a three-way tie for first place but will be seeded #2 in the upcoming conference tournament due to the tiebreaker. The GSAC tournament will begin on Friday, April 27th at Maryville College in Maryville, TN with the Lions facing host Maryville College beginning at 7:00.
