Returning to Great South Athletic Conference action this afternoon the Piedmont College baseball team defeated visiting Maryville College at Loudermilk Field by the score of 6-3. After being shutout for the first six innings the Lions rallied to score six unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to the victory.

The Scots scored single runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings and carried a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Lions plated six runs on seven hits and held on to the three-run margin for their second conference victory of the season.

Matt Burgess was impressive on the hill going 8 and 2/3 innings allowing only two runs on six hits while striking out three while Tom Dimitroff came in to record his third save of the season. Offensively Justin Vorherr, Cole Spedale and Andy house recorded a pair of hits apiece while Tyson Baxter notched a clutch pinch-hit in the Lions sixth inning.
