After dropping its previous three games, the Piedmont College baseball team notched a victory this afternoon at Loudermilk Field in dramatic fashion over visiting Bridgewater College by the score of 3-2. Evan Nissley gave the Lions a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh with a solo homerun and later scored the game-winning on a one-out single from senior Stan Brosko in the ninth.
The Lions gave up an unearned run in the second and tied the game on a Matt Devito bases loaded walk in the fourth. The score remained tied until Nissley's blast in the seventh. Bridgewater answered in the top of the ninth on a two-out wild pitch setting the stage for Brosko's game-winning hit.
Josh McEachin went five innings allowing zero earned runs and was followed by B.J. Hampton who went 3 1/3 innings of relief allowing only one earned run. Josh Strickland picked up his second win of the season getting the final two outs in the ninth. Nissley led the offense going 3-4 with a homerun and two runs scored while Devito pitched in going 2-3 with an RBI.
The win moves PC to 4-9 overall. The Lions will return to action again tomorrow, March 9th as they host Christopher Newport University at Loudermilk Field starting at 3:00.
