Baseball Falls To 11th Ranked Millsaps 4-1

In a neutral site make-up game the Piedmont College baseball team took on #11 ranked Millsaps College at Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, AL and dropped a 4-1 decision. The Majors scored a pair of runs in the second and third innings and held on to the lead to earn the three-run victory.

Millsaps notched five hits including three doubles in the second and third and recorded the eventual game-winning runs. The Lions rallied in the eight and ninth but could only muster a single run while leaving four runners on base in those innings.

Justin Vorherr led PC's offense going 3-4 with a pair of doubles. Andy House notched the Lions only run on a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the eighth that drove the rightfielder to the warning track.

Senior Blake Thomas was impressive going six innings of scoreless relief allowing only three hits. Cole Spedale went 3-4 with a stolen base and Luke Dombrowsky and Zac Stein chipped in going 1-3 respectively.

The Lions now stand at 9-17 overall. The squad will open Great South Athletic Conference play this Friday, March 30th as they travel to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 CST.
