In a low scoring game at Loudermilk Field, Piedmont fell to visiting Methodist University 3-2 this afternoon. Piedmont was led offensively by Andy House who was 2-4 with a double and a solo homerun.
Methodist opened the scoring in the fourth inning with a single run on an RBI single by Brian Haplan. Piedmont quickly responded in thier half of the fourth as House notched his first homerun of the 2007 season, tying the game at one.
Piedmont took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning as a Corey Lindsey walk and House double set up runners on second and third. Pinch hitter Luke Dombrowsky came through with a sacrifice fly scoring Lindsey to give the Lions a 2-1 advantage. Methodist then took the lead in the seventh inning as they notched two unearned runs off reliever Josh McEachin.
The Lions starting pitcher Tom Dimitroff was impressive over his six innings of work, allowing one earned run and striking out eight.
With the loss, PC drops to 8-13 overall. The Lions will next be in action Tuesday March 20, 2007 as they will play host to visiting Centre College. First pitch is set for 7:00pm.
