Despite a furious rally in the second half, the Piedmont College men's basketball team fell short this afternoon to visiting Great South Athletic Conference opponent LaGrange College by the score of 87-80 in PC's Cave Arena. The Lions were able to get within seven points in the second half but it was not enough and the Lions dropped their third conference game.
After Piedmont started the game on a 7-2 run the Panthers quickly caught up and took the lead for good at the 9:00 mark where LC then went on a 24-10 run to end the first half with a 44-31 advantage. In the second half the Lions went on a 22-10 run to get within seven points but could never overcome the deficit.
Jake Baldwin tallied a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds, both game-highs. Tyler Whitlock notched 22 points while Jake Green and Mike Adams added 13 and 11 points respectively.
The Lions currently stand at 11-10 overall and 1-3 in the Great South. The men will return to the court again on Wednesday, February 7th as they host conference foe Huntingdon College at 8:00. The game will be the Lions' final home game of the season as the team's three seniors will be recognized before the start of the game.
