The Piedmont College baseball team erupted for a season-best 25 hits and 20 runs to cruise to a 20-6 Great South Athletic Conference victory this afternoon over host Maryville College. PC was able to score in seven of their nine innings on offense including 16 runs over the final six innings of play.
Andy Graf recorded his second victory of the week throwing six and two-thirds innings of relief allowing only one earned run and striking out five. B.J. Hampton faced the minimum in the bottom of the ninth to seal the victory for PC.
Every starter for the Lions recorded at least a pair of hits on the afternoon. Leading the way was Cole Spedale who went 4-5 with two runs scored and Walker Searcy went 3-5 with a two-run homer and four RBI's. Travis Hunt and Andy House also recorded a three-hit day.
The victory moves PC to 22-14 overall and 8-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lions will return to the field on Wednesday, April 19th as they travel to South Region opponent University of the South in Sewanee, TN with game time slated for 2:00 CST.Â
