Maryville Ends PC's GSAC Baseball Winning Streak At Seven

After winning seven consecutive Great South Athletic Conference games, the Piedmont College baseball team fell to host Maryville College this afternoon by the score of 10-1. The Lions were out hit 14-5 offensively and could not knock out Maryville's starter who threw a complete-game victory.

PC stranded nine runners on the afternoon, five of which were in scoring position. The Lions committed two errors and allowed eight earned runs in the defeat.

Evan Nissley led PC in offense going 2-4 and Mike Santowski drove in the lone run for the Lions as he went 1-3. Piedmont tallied eight strikeouts at the plate and could never mount a comeback to overcome the deficit.

The loss is the first in Great South Athletic Conference play for PC as they now stand at 21-14 and 7-1 in the GSAC. These two teams will meet in the rubber match tomorrow, April 15th, beginning at 2:00.
