Bridgewater Snaps PC Four-Game Winning Streak With 5-4 Victory

In a closely contested game the Piedmont College baseball team fell to visiting Bridgewater College this afternoon 5-4 at PC's Loudermilk Field. After leading 2-0 through six innings the Lions allowed a three-run sixth, but responded to tie the game at three apiece in the seventh before allowing two more runs in the eighth. Despite a ninth inning rally, PC left the tying run at third base and dropped the 5-4 decision.

Ian McClary pitched six-plus innings allowing three runs on five hits and recorded a no-decision. The bullpen pitched three complete innings allowing two runs on three hits and two walks.

Offensively the Lions were led by Andy House and Mike Santowski who both went 2-4 with an RBI each. Justin Oates and Cole Spedale also contributed by going 1-4 with an RBI apiece. Matt Hale notched a pinch-hit single and Walker Searcy went 1-2 with a run scored.

The loss drops Piedmont to 6-4 overall. The Lions return to action again on Tuesday, March 7th as they travel to NCAA Division-III South Region opponent Millsaps College in Jackson, MS with game-time slated for 3:00 CST.
