Piedmont's Offense Explodes For 19 Hits In 14-4 Victory Over Edgewood

Behind a high-powered offense that produced 19 hits and 14 runs the Piedmont College baseball team overcame Edgewood College 14-4 this afternoon at Loudermilk Field. After allowing two runs in the top of the first PC answered with three runs in the home-half and never relenquished the lead en route to the two-game sweep.

In addition to the three-run first inning the Lions scored in four more innings including a seven-run sixth inning. In the seventh PC sent 11 men to the plate and tallied six hits.

Leading the charge for the Lions was Stan Brosko who went 4-5 with two RBI's. Andy House chipped-in with a 3-4 day from the plate, three RBI's and two runs scored. Travis Hunt went a perfect 3-3 with three runs scored and an RBI and Mike Santowski went 2-5 with three RBI's and two runs scored.

On the mound Ian McClary gained his first victory of the season by pitching six and a third innings striking out five and allowing only three runs by scattering ten hits.

The victory moves PC to 8-5 overall. The Lions will open-up Great South Athletic Conference play tomorrow as they host conference opponent Fisk University in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 3:00.
