Washington & Lee Defeats Lions 9-3

The Piedmont College baseball team fell to 1-2 overall on the season this afternoon with a 9-3 non-conference loss to visiting Washington & Lee University at PC's Loudermilk Field. The Generals jumped out to an early three-run lead in the first inning and never looked back.

W&L tacked on a single run in the third and a pair in the fourth to stretch their lead to six runs before the Lions answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Piedmont's Andy Graff suffered the loss on the mound as he allowed eight runs in four innings of work. B.J. Hampton allowed just one run in five innings of relief work.

Offensively, third baseman Stan Brosko was perfect 5-5 from the plate with a stolen base and a RBI.

The Lions return to action on Thursday afternoon with another non-conference home game with visiting Lewis & Clark College from Portland, Oregon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00.
