The Piedmont College men's soccer team never trailed top-seeded Maryville College this afternoon and rolled to the 2006 Great South Athletic Conference men's soccer championship by the score of 4-2. Drew Griffin led the Lions with his second consecutive hat-trick while senior George Sandi added three assists.

Griffin found the back of the net twice in the first eight minutes with the assists going to Chad Davis and George Sandi. Maryville scored before intermission to enter the half with the score 2-1.

Creasy recorded his first goal of the season which proved to be the game-winner at the 56th minute on Sandi's second assist of the day. Maryville brought the score back to 3-2 but Piedmont found an insurance goal eight minutes later as Griffin and Sandi connected again and guided the Lions to the two-goal victory.
