The Piedmont College men's basketball team suffered an 87-65 Great South Athletic Conference loss at league-leader Maryville College this afternoon in Maryville, TN. After holding a slim five-point advantage (27-22) with 5:03 remaning in the first half, the host Scots used a 10-1 run just before halftime to stretch their lead to double-figures.
The Scots would pick up right where they left off after intermission as they stretched their lead. MC would finish the game shooting 49% from the field and 45% from behind the three-point line while holding Piedmont to 34% overall and 29% from deep.
Jake Baldwin led Piedmont with team-highs of 14 points and seven rebounds while Brent Walker added 12 points and six boards.Â
The loss drops Piedmont to 10-8 overall on the season and 1-4 in conference action. Piedmont will return to action on Monday night with a non-conference rivalry game at NCAA Division-II North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, GA.
