PC Men's Soccer Shut Out By Maryville College 5-0

The Piedmont College men's soccer team fell to visiting Great South Athletic Conference rival Maryville College by the score of 5-0 this evening at PC's Walker Field. The loss ends the Lions' 18-game home-winning streak that dated back to the 2003 season.

The eventual game-winning goal came at the 9:00 mark and was follwed by two more goals before intermission.

The 3-0 halftime deficit proved to be to much for Piedmont, who could not answer in the second half. Maryville tacked on two more goals, and outshot the Lions on the evening 13-3.

Patrick Ratigan recorded eight saves between the posts and Rob Nix recorded two shots on goal.

The loss drops the Lions to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the GSAC. Piedmont will resume competition again on Saturday, September 24th as they travel to Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC with game time set for 1:30.
