The Piedmont University Department of Athletics welcomed back one of its own when bringing back Chad Hall to serve in the Athletic Communications office for the Lions beginning with the fall of 2026.
"Chad's experience here at Piedmont as well as his background in statistics and game day management made him a clear front runner in the hiring process," said Jamie Purdy, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. "Chad has a good feel for our athletic department as a former student-athlete but also as a former student-worker who served many of the sports that he will be working with as he returns to Piedmont in a different role."
The former play-by-play announcer and color analyst for the Mane Event Broadcasting Network, Piedmont's video broadcasting channel for home athletic events, earned his undergraduate degree at Piedmont in Sports Communications and also picked up a second major in History during his time in Demorest.
"We are delighted to add Chad to our athletic department after a few years away from Demorest," said Assistant AD Timmy McCormack who will oversee the athletic communications office once again. "With Eric Edmonson on board already and his background with our video broadcasting network, Chad's experience as an intern with Piedmont in the live statistics area as well as game day operations make this group one with diverse expertise that will provide a fantastic experience for the fans and student-athletes.
Upon his hire, Chad voiced clear enthusiasm for the role, saying: “I am excited for this opportunity to join such an amazing sports information staff that has shined in so many ways over the years."

~ A Piedmont Sports Start Leads to a Piedmont Return ~
It's no surprise that Chad found his way back to a place where he began his career in sports as a student worker at Piedmont in 2021 and continued until his graduation in December of 2023.
A Piedmont alum, Hall spent his own collegiate playing days as a member of the Lions' lacrosse program under Head Coach Tim Dunton getting off to a great start by helping the 2019 team to a USA South Conference Championship in his freshman season.
It was his experience that started at Piedmont which led to his return with Hall saying this upon his hire in the fall of 2026: "I am thrilled to be returning to Piedmont. It’s been a goal of mine to return to Demorest in an elevated role and continue to contribute to the department.”
Beyond Piedmont

With experience from Piedmont already under his belt in game day operations, it came as no surprise that Hall served as a supervisor of various events around Truist Park, the Battery and Plaza as well gaining knowledge in the logistics that come along with supporting a Major League Baseball team.
During his time with the Braves which began prior to the 2024 season, Hall also assisted with conferences, hiring events, and orientations that built the Atlanta-based ball club's event operations department up over the years.
~ Returning Home Before...Well...Returning Home ~
Upon his graduation in 2023 from the Demorest-based institution, the Marietta native returned to his former stomping grounds working with the lacrosse teams at Marietta High School and also go involved in club lacrosse coaching at the Dirty Birds Lacrosse Club locally.
Hall was the Head Coach for the JV lacrosse team at Marietta High School providing players with training opportunties and helping to develop the next generation of players for the Varsity program.
~ Earning His Stripes in the College Ranks ~
His experience was not limited to the high school and club ranks during his time directly out of Piedmont as Hall also coached at Life University as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Running Eagles.
