Christian Buckmire

Christian Buckmire enters his fourth season as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Piedmont University in 2025-26, continuing to play a key role in the program’s recent run of success. A 2017 graduate of Piedmont, Buckmire returned to the Lady Lions in a full-time capacity in 2022 after serving as a student assistant from 2015–2017.

In the 2024–25 season, Buckmire helped guide the Lions to a 20-8 overall record and a 14-2 mark in conference play, capturing a share of the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Regular Season Championship and winning the CCS Tournament title on their home floor. The victory secured the program's seventh NCAA Tournament appearance under Head Coach Jamie Purdy. The season also saw the Lions thrive individually under Buckmire's player development efforts, with Andelin Hill earning CCS Player of the Year and D3hoops.com All-Region honors after being named CCS Player of the Week five times. Nae-Nae Eades earned CCS Tournament MVP recognition, and three Lions earned All-Conference honors.

In 2023–24, Buckmire coached four All-CCS players, including CCS Rookie of the Year Alexandria Willis, as Piedmont capped another winning season with a thrilling Senior Day upset over Berea. His debut season in 2022–23 included helping three players earn All-CCS recognition and guiding the team to the CCS Tournament Final in the league’s inaugural season.

Prior to returning to Piedmont, Buckmire spent time coaching at the high school level in Georgia, with tenures at Dutchtown High School (2017–2019) and Druid Hills High School (2019–2022). At Dutchtown, he played an instrumental role in the program's Class 5A Region Championship and Elite Eight state playoff run, serving as both JV and varsity assistant coach while also acting as the program’s recruiting coordinator. His responsibilities included overseeing training sessions, running individual workouts, breaking down film, developing scouting reports, and managing outreach to college programs.

As a student assistant at Piedmont, Buckmire contributed to back-to-back conference tournament championship teams, assisting with individual and small group workouts, statistical analysis, and in-game strategy under Coach Purdy.

He earned his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Piedmont College in 2017.
