Brad Cochran enters his seventh season as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach in 2021-22 after helping guide the Lady Lions to three-consecutive USA South Tournament Championships in 2016-17, 17-18 and 18-19.

The success has continued in the last two seasons, as the Lady Lions advanced to the USA South Tournament Final in 2019-20 and the USA South West Division Tournament Final in 2020-21. Piedmont defeated Mary Baldwin, Huntingdon and Berea to claim its third conference title in three years. Following the game, Amari Price was named tournament MVP. In addition to Price’s MVP, she was also named USA South Player of the Year.

Since joining Piedmont, nine players have been named All-Conference with one All-Region selection.

In 2017-18, the Lady Lions defeated tournament host Greensboro College in the semifinals before taking down Berea in the championship game. Senior Bridgette Kelly was named tournament MVP.

Piedmont began its three-year run in 2016-17 with a tournament championship win over host Maryville College. Junior Carlie Shields scored 21 points and was named tournament MVP.

Cochran’s first season saw the team finish with a 20-8 overall record and a trip to the conference tournament.

During his first season, Piedmont tied a NCAA-era program record with a 14-game win streak. The Lady Lions were named HERO Sports Team of the Month for January and took down a top-25 Maryville College inside of Cave Arena.

Prior to Piedmont, Cochran was a student assistant with Shorter University’s men’s basketball team during the 2012-13 season.

A local product, Cochran has worked for Lakeview Academy and Gainseville High School while working with both the men’s and women’s programs at Lakeview.
