BT Pham

BT Pham joined the Piedmont College cross country & track and field programs as a graduate assistant in the fall of 2016 working under Head Coach Jeff Jenkins. Pham joined the Piedmont staff fresh off his own Division III career as a student-athlete having competed in both track & field as well as football at Concordia University Wisconsin.

Pham contributed to the Lion and Lady Lions boasting a pair of USTFCCCA All-Region outdoor selections in 2017. Julia Graham ran a 1:03.05 in the 400H and took MVP honors at the Atlantic Independent Championships winning three events including the 400H. Kyle Ray cleared 4.63m (15' 2.25") in the pole vault this season and also won the event at the Atlantic Independent Championships. Graham became the first women's track & field athlete at Piedmont to earn the honor while Ray took the honor for the second year in a row.

With the track & field program in its first three years under Coach Jenkins, Pham looked to add his expertise to a program that already made waves in the South Region with 2016's freshman phenom Kyle Ray being named USTFCCCA All-Region for his work as a pole vaulter.  Ray took the nod after finishing in the top five of an individual event in the region according to TFRRS data.

Pham competed in both the outdoor and indoor seasons all four years he was at Concordia University Wisconsin serving as a team captain for the program before departing for Demorest in 2016.  Competing as a sprinter and pole vaulter, Pham also participated in jumps appearing in 14 combined meets during his senior year alone.

Pham brings invaluable knowledge to the Piedmont staff as he cleared 3.95 meters for a 4th place finish at the NACC Outdoor Championships, a major increase from his personal best as a freshman of 3.35 meters.  With a PR of 4.11 meters cleared in the Carthage Final Qualifier his senior year, Pham hopes to bring the same improvement to Piedmont's Ray who returns for a sophomore season in 2016-17.

Not limited to his work as a pole vaulter, Pham competed as a sprinter as well running in the 55, 60, 200, and 300-meter dashes as well as various relays during his time on campus.  Pham was a part of the 2nd place 4x100 meter relay team at the NACC Outdoor Championships in 2016 and also placed 5th in the 55-meter dash with a PR of 6.75 seconds at the NACC Indoor Championships in 2015.

Additionally, Pham also competed in the long jump leaping 6.26 meters at the NACC Indoor Championships in 2016, but he boasts a PR of 6.41 meters in the Augustana Meet of Champions this past spring.  Pham's work in the long jump gave him 7th in the Private College Invite during this past indoor season while he finished 6th in the St. Norbert Invite during the outdoor season.

Already a standout in track and field, Pham was also a member of the football team at Concordia playing as a running back with his most productive season coming as a senior in 2015.  During that campaign, Pham appeared in nine games making one start as he carried the ball 44 times for 155 yards and a touchdown while also picking up 108 receiving yards and another TD.

Though his first college coaching stint, Piedmont is not the first coaching opportunity for Coach Pham as he spent the spring of 2016 as a Jumps/Assistant Sprints and Relay Coach at Living Word Lutheran High School back in Wisconsin.  While there, Pham mentored two regional champions in the long jump and triple jump as well as five WIAA sectional qualifiers in sprints, jumps, and relay as well as two WIAA state qualifiers in sprints and relay.

Pham earned his undergraduate degree from Concordia University Wisconsin in May of 2016 as a double-major in Sport and Entertainment Management and Marketing.

As a Graduate Assistant Coach for the cross country and track & field programs at Piedmont, Pham will assist Head Coach Jeff Jenkins in all facets of the program.Â
