SAVANNAH, Ga. - Piedmont women's golf completed Round One of the Savannah Invitational on Monday afternoon, led by a pair of round in the 70's from veterans Erin Donovan and Keegan Goins.

On a day when a number of teams and players posted under par rounds, the Lions held steady, led by the senior Donovan and the junior Goins.

Donovan led the way for the Lions in the opening round, posting a 1-over 74 that included three birdies as she began began the day on the par-5 12th hole in the shotgun start.

 

Goins posted back-to-back birdies early in her round and had nothing worse than bogey on her scorecard to come in with a solid 3-over 76.

 

Piedmont's final two counting scores were in the low 80's, as reigning USA South Rookie of the Week Lila Polakowski posted an 81 while two-time USA South Rookie of the Week Aubree Hill played her best round of the spring, with an 82.

Fellow freshman Addison Maney had a birdie on her card but posted a non-counting 87.

Although she sits in a tie for 16th on the individual leaderboard, Donovan is only five shots off the individual lead, which sits at 4-under.

On the team side, Carnegie Mellon raced away from the pack, posting a 14-under team score, eight strokes ahead of second-place Emory.

Up next, the event will conclude with the final round, set to begin at 9 a.m. with another shotgun start.
