FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Piedmont women's golf freshman
Lila Polakowski has been named USA South Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, as the league office announced its weekly golf awards Wednesday afternoon.
The Canton, Michigan native had her second straight strong finish to a tournament, backing up a first round 81 with a final round of 4-over 77 to jump into the top 60 on the individual leaderboard at the Savannah Invitational.
The solid round from Polakowski, which included three birdies, helped her move up 14 spots and helped the Lions move up to an 11th place finish as a team for the event.
Polakowski is the second Lion to earn multiple USA South Rookie of the Week nods this academic year, joining teammate
Aubree Hill, who earned the honor twice in the fall.
Up next, the Lions will tee it up at the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate Invitational, set to begin next Friday, March 20 in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
