SAVANNAH, Ga. - Piedmont women's golf junior Keegan Goins fired a career-best round of 2-under 71 to lead the Lions in the final round of the Savannah Invitational Tuesday in Savannah, Georgia.

After a rock solid first round of 3-over 76, Goins was even better on Tuesday, making two birdies and an eagle against just two bogeys for her career-best round as a Lion and her first under par round. Beginning the day on the par-4 9th, Goins made birdie on the par-5 11th, followed by an eagle on the par-5 13th to push her to 3-under early in her round. She then made five straight pars to close out the back nine. 

 


While she bogeyed the par-4 1st and the par-3 3rd, she was undeterred, immediately bouncing back with a birdie at the par-5 4th and then closing strong with four consecutive pars to end the event and move into the top 15.

As a team, the Lions moved into solo 11th place, counting four rounds in the 70's.

Reigning USA South Rookie of the Week Lila Polakowski moved up the individual leaderboard 14 spots after making three birdies on her way to a 4-over 77.

Erin Donovan and Addison Maney each carded 5-over 78's for the team's final two counting scores while Aubree Hll posted an 82 that included a pair of birdies. Maney made the biggest improvement round over round, beating her first round score by nine strokes for her low round as a Lion.

Piedmont finished just three strokes out of the top 10, as it improved its team score from Round One by nine.

Up next, the Lions will have over a week off before teeing it up at the Jekyl Island Women's Collegiate Invitational, set to begin next Friday, March 20 in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
