DECATUR, Ga. - Piedmont women's basketball began its four-game road trip with a convincing 82-51 victory over Agnes Scott on Tuesday evening in Decatur, Georgia.

The Lions dominated the first and fourth quarters and held steady through the middle of the contest, running away late.

Reigning CCS Rookie of the Week Kylie Watkins led the way offensively for Piedmont, scoring 14 points to go with seven rebounds. The freshman from Cleveland, Georgia made 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and is an efficient 8-of-11 from long range over her past two games.

Although Watkins was the only starter in double figures, a pair of Piedmont reserves contributed with strong offensive performances. Gracie Deetz scored 13 points in just 13 minutes of action, and was also a force on the defensive end, recording a season-best four blocks. In the backcourt, senior Brooklyn Begley added 12 points to go with three rebounds and three steals.

Overall, 11 of the 13 Lions that saw game action were in the scoring column on Tuesday.

It was a wire-to-wire win for Piedmont, with Watkins scoring five quick points to open a dominant first quarter. Piedmont raced out to a 20-3 lead and led 20-6 at the end of the first quarter.

While the Scotties fought back to play the Lions even over the middle 20 minutes of the game, Piedmont still entered the final quarter leading by double digits and only increased its lead from there, outscoring Agnes Scott 21-4 to put an exclamation point on the win.

Up next, the Lions will have a two day break before embarking on a daunting road trip, taking on LaGrange, Huntingdon and Belhaven on back-to-back-to-back days.
