DEMOREST, Ga. - Piedmont women's basketball returned home and delivered a decisive 72-35 win against Covenant on Wednesday night at Cave Arena.

The Lions raced out to a fast start and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire to split the season series with the Scots.

It was a balanced scoring attack from Piedmont, with 10 different players scoring but only one in double figures, led by Lily Conkell with 11 points. Kelsey Banks caught fire from beyond the arc, making three three-pointers for nine points. Four Lions ended the night with eight points in Kylie Watkins, Riley Bryan, Alexandria Willis and Gracie Deetz.

Piedmont blitzed the Scots out of the gate, scoring the game's first 16 points and holding them scoreless for the first 8:32 of the contest.

The Lions continued to pour it on in the second quarter, leading by over 20 points early in the period before pushing the lead to 30 midway through the quarter, which is where it stayed going to the break.

Although the Scots held tough in the third quarter, the Piedmont lead was insurmountable, and the Lions played more stifling defense, allowing just four points in the final quarter to win by 37 points.

Up next, the Lions will continue their four regular season closing homestand, hosting Belhaven this Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m.

- Piedmont scored the first 16 points of the game and held Covenant scoreless late into the first quarter to erase all doubt early.

STANDOUT PEROFRMANCES:

- Ava Hunter led the Lions in rebounds, pulling down 10 along with seven points off the bench.
