MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Piedmont women's golf completed its second event of the fall season Monday afternoon as the final round of the Montgomery Women's Intercollegiate came to a close.

After a slow start during Sunday's first round, Erin Donovan closed the opening round with a birdie and then took the momentum into Monday's final round, making five birdies on her way to a 1-under 71 to vault into the top 10 on the individual leaderboard and finish in a tie for seventh.
 

She was assisted by freshman Aubree Hill, who was the only other Lion to shoot in the 70's. Although she made just one birdie on her round, she kept the big numbers to a minimum, with nothing worse than bogey on her card en route to a 6-over 78 and a top 20 finish.

The final two counting scores for the Lions were both in the 80's, with Zoe Shuttlesworth carding an 84 and Keegan Goins delivering an 85.

Lila Polakowski delivered a non-counting 87 while Marissa Weaver, competing as an individual, improved to an 84 in the final round.

The strong work from Donovan and Hill helped the Lions climb into a tie for sixth with Southwestern (Texas) on the team leaderboard.

Piedmont finished ahead of a pair of USA South foes in Methodist and Maryville.

Up next, the Lions will be back in action at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational, set to begin Sunday, Oct. 12 in Destin, Florida.
