NCAA DIII Week: Paige Kluba Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

By Joseph Garwood: Director of Athletic Communications

DEMOREST, Ga. - DIII National SAAC Member. Online Editor of The Roar. Athletic Communications Assistant. All-Conference Forward on the Women's Soccer Team. And recently, just the sixth person in Piedmont history to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

It's safe to say that Paige Kluba is a shining example of what it means to be a Division III student-athlete.

Paige is one-of-a-kind and an absolute rockstar. She pours everything she has into the initiatives she takes on and is an outstanding representative of Piedmont.

She is not only successful on the field, but also in the classroom and has built an incredible resume within her chosen career path. She is bound to make waves and a positive impact wherever she lands.

For someone who came to Piedmont as a typical freshman, just trying to adjust to the schedule demands of being a college athlete, she has gradually and continuously expanded her reach throughout her three years at Piedmont, finding herself involved on campus and representing Piedmont at the national level.

It ended up being something way bigger than I could have imagined. I met so many amazing people and really found connection through them. I learned a lot about myself, just that I can do anything I put my mind to.

After deciding that she wanted to continue her soccer career at the college level, Kluba established a connection with Piedmont women's soccer assistant Stephanie Lamm and chose to come to Demorest in the fall of 2022.

While trying to carve out her role and find her niche on and off the field, Kluba was still able to be a key contributor to Piedmont's 2022 CCS Championship winning team.

However, she gradually was able to come out of her shell, overcoming her anxiety by first becoming involved in SAAC.

This eventually led to her being named an Associate Member of the NCAA DIII National SAAC, which earned her a trip to Indianapolis earlier this spring.

In the meantime, she continued to step forward in her role on the field, setting a new program record with five assists in a game as a sophomore and being named CCS All-Conference and CSC Academic All-District the last two seasons.

As she plans to graduate this spring with her undergraduate degree and continue at Piedmont in the fall for a final season of soccer as a graduate student, Kluba found out she had earned the coveted NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

I opened the email and saw that it said, 'congratulations,' and I was beyond shocked to learn that I received the scholarship. I'm also so grateful for the people that wrote endorsements for me and everyone at Piedmont that has supported me in my time here.

The opportunities did not stop there, however, as she was recently also awarded a grant from the College Sports Communicators to attend the CSC Convention this summer.

I didn't really have a full grasp of what I wanted to do. But working with Danielle, Joseph and Davis it's really shown me that I want to work in athletic communications. I want to be able to help make the student-athlete experience great for others as well.

Hear from Kluba in her own words on how she was able to overcome her initial anxiety and build and extend her reach to many different avenues on campus, while also representing Piedmont on a national scale.
