2025 Men's Tennis Senior Spotlight

These five seniors have been with the Lions for varying lengths of time, but all have contributed on and off the courts. Over the last four seasons, they have led Piedmont to a 60-27 overall record and a remarkable 19-3 conference mark. In two of the last three seasons, the group has helped the program set a new mark for wins in a season, with 16 in 2023 and 19 last season. The 2024 season saw the Lions go undefeated in its CCS regular season to capture the regular season trophy, In the last two seasons, the Lions have made a run to the CCS tournament final.

JC Foster - Senior Spotlight

Foster has appeared in 16 dual singles matches and five dual doubles matches over his four seasons at Piedmont. JC owns a stellar 12-4 dual singles record and has won three dual doubles matches. He was a perfect 5-0 in dual singles matches in 2023 and he has a win at each of the three spots in the doubles lineup this season; Earlier this fall, he teamed with Simon Johnstone to take down a doubles pairing from Berry at the Piedmont Fall Foliage Invitational. Off the court, JC is a three-time Academic All-Conference selection and has been named an ITA Scholar Athlete. He plans to graduate with a degree in management.

Simon Johnstone
Simon Johnstone - Senior Spotlight

Johnstone has appeared in 17 dual singles matches but has been a mainstay in the doubles lineup, with 47 appearances over his three seasons in Demorest. Simon owns a 14-3 career dual singles record and is 28-19 in dual doubles matches. After a stellar 2023 season, he was named to the All-CCS Second Team and also earned weekly recognition from the CCS in 2024, taking home CCS Doubles Team of the Week honors with Silas Sandles. Johnstone has earned a singles win at the No. 2 through No. 6 lineup spots over his career. In doubles, he currently leads the team with seven wins at No. 3 this season and had 8 wins at the top doubles spot over the past two season. Off the court, he is a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree and an ITA Scholar Athlete. He plans to graduate with a degree in sports communication.

Connor Phelps
Connor Phelps - Senior Spotlight

Phelps has played 31 career dual singles matches and 44 dual doubles matches over his three seasons with the Lions. Connor owns 17 career dual singles wins and 28 dual doubles wins. His debut season in 2023 saw him roll to a 13-2 dual doubles mark including an 11-2 mark at the No. 3 spot. He was rewarded with a spot on the All-CCS 2nd Team in 2023. He also was a 2023 CCS Rookie of the Week honoree after earning a clinch in Piedmont’s first ever win over Methodist. Off the court, Phelps is a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree and an ITA Scholar Athlete. He plans to graduate with a degree in engineering physics as part of the 3+2 program with Georgia Tech.

YANNICK WASSMER NAVARRO | MADRID, SPAIN
Yannick Wassmer Navarro
Yannick Wassmer Navarro - Senior Spotlight

Over three seasons with the Lions, Wassmer Navarro has played 47 dual singles matches and 46 dual doubles matches. He owns a fantastic 34-12 career doubles mark and has picked up 26 dual singles wins, with 23 of them coming in the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Yannick began his career by winning the clinching match in a 5-4 road win at Pfeiffer in his first career dual match at Piedmont. This season, he leads the team with 13 doubles wins. Yannick is a two-time All-CCS First Team selection, a four-time CCS Player of the Week and a three-time CCS Rookie of the Week. Off the court, Wassmer Navarro is a two-time Academic All-Conference selection and was named to the CSC Academic All-District team in 2024. Also an ITA Scholar Athlete, Yannick plans to graduate with a degree in engineering physics as part of the 3+2 program with Georgia Tech.

VanOrder returned to the team for a fifth playing season in 2024-25.

After helping lead the Lions to an undefeated CCS season and CCS regular season championship last year, Bryce is currently tied for third on the team with six dual singles wins this season, picking up wins at each of the first four lineup spots.
