SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Piedmont women's golf team sits in second after round one of the USA South Championship, led by
Erin Donovan who made an even par 72 to begin the tournament.
Erin Donovan was one over through 10 but finished with a birdie on 13 and seven pars on the back nine to end the day even with just three bogeys on the day.
Abigail Evans was the second lowest in the round for the Lions shooting a 78 to sit in seventh overall. Evans made a birdie on seven and was over bogey just once in the round.
Both
Keegan Goins and
Sarah Fox shot 82 in the opener finishing +10 and tied at 15th overall. Goins made a birdie on five while Fox saved hers for 18.
Marissa Weaver shot a 92 in the opening round with a birdie on 13 as every Lion recorded at least one birdie.
As a team, Huntingdon holds the lead by 18 strokes with a 296 team score as the Hawks' Yvette Gorden leads the event after a 70 (-2) to open the tournament.
Up next, round two will take place on Tuesday in Spartanburg.
