Women's Soccer Wins 10th Straight, Cruises Past Toccoa Falls 5-0

DEMOREST, Ga. - Piedmont women's soccer left no doubt in a 5-0 home win over Toccoa Falls on a rainy Tuesday night in Demorest.

The win marks 10 in a row to close out the regular season for the Lions, who go into postseason play with momentum on their side.

In a contest that was originally scheduled to be played at Toccoa Falls, the late venue shift only helped the Lions, who scored in the first minute as sophomore Addi Banks found the back of the net off an assist.

Although the Lions controlled possession and held an 8-2 advantage in shots in the first half, the Eagles stood tall to keep their deficit at 1-0.

However, keeping with the theme of scoring early in halves, senior Christina Sierra found the back of the net just 30 seconds into the second half to move the lead out to 2-0.

That began a second half scoring barrage from Piedmont, as Sophie Wells (59'), Molly Fitzpatrick (67') and Addyson Jarrard (85') added goals in the second half.

The goal by Jarrard marked the first of her career as a Lion.

Four different goalkeepers saw time for Piedmont, with freshmen Jordan Atkinson and Kendyl Lloyd each registering a save.

Up next, the Lions will remain at home as they begin postseason play, hosting No. 6 seed LaGrange in the CCS Tournament First Round this Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- The Lions scored in the first minute of each half and added three more goals in the second half to run away from the Eagles.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- The Lions spread the wealth on Tuesday, with nine different players tallying a goal or an assist.
- Four of Piedmont's five goals were assisted as Sydney Spitzer, Alison Witkiewicz, Jordyn Harris and Gretchen Dedolph put their teammates in position to find the back of the net.
