ATLANTA - Piedmont women's soccer could not overcome a stout Oglethorpe defense and surrendered a pair of first half goals in a 2-0 loss late Friday night in Atlanta.
The Stormy Petrels were able to take control of the contest with a pair of early goals and the Lions were not able to mount a late rally.
The win for Oglethorpe snapped a six-game Piedmont win streak in the series between the teams.
Despite the loss, Piedmont did hold a 15-9 advantage in the shot count, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. However, Oglethorpe goalkeepers Grace Elsevier and Katherine Crim combined for eight saves to keep the Lions off the scoreboard.
Freshman
Kylin Rothwell led the Lions with two shots on goal for the contest.
Up next, it will be a quick turnaround for the Lions, as they play host to MUW on Saturday, September 7 at 11 a.m.
