Woolfolk's Career High Leads Lions Past Berry 67-61

LaGRANGE, Ga. - For the second straight day, the Piedmont women's basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to come away victorious, this time in 67-61 fashion over Berry on Sunday afternoon at the CCS/SAA Classic.

Playing once again in LaGrange, Georgia, senior Lu Woolfolk led Piedmont with a career-best 16 points and helped the Lions rally late.

The Lions trailed by a point heading into the final period. However, Colby Reed drained a three-pointer 30 seconds into the quarter to turn a one-point deficit into a two-point lead and Piedmont did not trail the rest of the way, icing the game late at the free throw line.

Woolfolk added six rebounds and five assists to her team-high 16 points. It was a balanced scoring attack overall for Piedmont, with five players scoring at least eight points.

Newcomer Andelin Hill was strong inside, posting 15 points and adding 14 rebounds in the win. Senior guard Laken Stiles was steady as usual, delivering 11 points to go with four assists against just one turnover.

After failing to connect from long range in the season opener, the Lions were 5-of-16 from deep on Sunday, led by Reed's two, both of which came in the final quarter.

The Vikings jumped out to a 30-27 halftime lead before the Lions found their offensive footing with a 40-point second half.

Piedmont held a 46-34 edge on the glass and knocked down 16-of-25 free throws, including going 9-of-15 in the fourth quarter.

Up next, the Lions are on the road again next weekend, first taking on Greensboro next Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. in the Roanoke Classic.

TURNING POINT:
- Reed's three-pointer to open the fourth quarter gave Piedmont the lead and the Vikings never led again.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Woolfolk tallied a career-best 16 points.
- Hill added 15 points to go with 14 rebounds on 5-of-9 shooting and 4-of-5 at the foul line.
