MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Piedmont women's soccer team used an offensive onslaught to race past Huntingdon by a 4-0 margin on Wednesday night in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Lions scored twice in each half on their way to a dominant victory to move to 3-1 in Collegiate Conference of the South play. The win also marked the team's first conference road win of the season.
After Piedmont broke through on
Sierra Judson's team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 15th minute, the team scored a goal in 20 minute intervals and built a 4-0 lead by the 66th minute of action.
The Lions were able to break through as a long through ball from
Peyton Gates was tracked down by Judson, as the two sophomores connected with Judson racing past the Hawks' back line and beat the keeper to the top left for the only goal Piedmont needed.
Then, 20 minutes later, it was senior
Chloe Spradlin who found a crease in Huntingdon's defense and extended the Piedmont lead to 2-0 heading to the break as she found her space off an assist from fellow senior
Marissa Taghon.
It did not take the Lions long to strike out of halftime as Judson found the back of the net again for her sixth of the season to all but ensure a Piedmont victory.
Finally, in the 66th minute, the fourth and final goal from the Lions came from
Savannah Jerome off a feed from senior
Emma Williams.
Up next, the Lions will head home and be back in action tomorrow night, hosting Florida College at 7 p.m.
