Judson's Two Second Half Goals Lead Lions Past LaGrange, into CCS Semifnals

NEED TO KNOW:
Score: Piedmont 2, LaGrange 1
Records: Piedmont, 10-6-5; LaGrange, 6-7-4

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's soccer team escaped a second-half deficit and stormed past LaGrange for a 2-1 victory in the CCS Tournament Quarterfinals on an unseasonably warm afternoon in Demorest.

Sierra Judson delivered the equalizer and the game-winner in the second half, turning the deficit into a win and leading Piedmont into the semifinals.

Trending like the past few home games for the Lions, the game was a defensive struggle in the early going, as Piedmont was unable to convert on a few early first half chances.

Piedmont had a 7-2 edge in shots during the first 45 minutes.

Out of halftime, the Panthers stunned the Lions, as Kirsten Captino broke the scoreless tie and gave Piedmont its first home deficit against a conference foe all season.

However, Piedmont calmly responded just over 10 minutes later, with Chloe Spradlin's free kick finding Judson's head. The sophomore beautifully directed it to the bottom right of the goal and gave the Lions a calming equalizer.

Then, the two-time all-conference sophomore struck again, this time off a feed from Victoria Sierra. Firing off a shot with her left foot, it once again slid past the LaGrange goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

From there, the Lions went back into a defensive structure and held the Panthers scoreless the rest of the way.

Up next, the Lions will head to Maryville for a rematch with the Scots of last season's CCS Championship game that went Piedmont's way.

Kickoff is set for Wednesday, Nov. 1. Time is to be determined.

TURNING POINT:
- Judson scored twice in a 20-minute span in the second half to turn a one-goal deficit into a one-goal win.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Judson now leads the squad with nine goals. This marks the sophomore's second multi-goal game of the season.
- Chloe Spradlin and Victoria Sierra tallied assists on Judson's two goals.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Despite the close score line, Piedmont held a 17-6 shot advantage for the contest.
